UPDATE 1-Soccer-Romania's Chivu, Petre miss Euro 2008 qualifiers

BUCHAREST, March 19 (Reuters) - Defender Cristian Chivu and midfielder Florentin Petre will miss Romania's Euro 2008 qualifiers against the Netherlands and Luxemburg this month because of injury.

Skipper Chivu will be sidelined for two more weeks after nose surgery while Petre strained a muscle in his leg in a Bulgarian league match at the weekend.

Coach Victor Piturca called up uncapped Dorel Stoica of Universitatea Craiova and a host of other defenders, but overlooked George Ogararu, a regular with Ajax Amsterdam.

Strikers Daniel Niculae and Iannis Zicu have also joined the squad.

Romania, third in the group G with seven points from three matches, face the Netherlands away on March 24 and host Luxemburg four days later.
