MADRID (Reuters) - A possible merger between British Airways BAY.L Plc and Spain's Iberia IBLA.MC could be a good option for Spain, Spanish Economy Minister Pedro Solbes said on Wednesday.

"I think it could be a good option," Solbes said during an interview on Spain's Ser radio station.

Spanish state holding company SEPI is the third largest shareholder in Iberia with a 5.2 percent stake.
