Apache second-quarter profit more than doubles

HOUSTON, July 31 (Reuters) - Apache Corp (APA.N) said on Thursday its second-quarter earnings more than doubled as the independent oil and natural gas company profited from high energy prices.
Profit in the quarter was $1.4 billion, or $4.28 per share, compared with $632 million, or $1.89 per share in the same quarter a year earlier.
Revenue jumped nearly 60 percent to $3.9 billion. (Reporting by Anna Driver, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
