UPDATE 1-Kazakhstan raises oil export duty
(Adds background)
ALMATY, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan has raised the rate of oil export duty to $203.8 per tonne from $109.91, a decree published in the official newspaper Kazakhstanskaya Pravda said on Thursday.
The increase will take effect 30 days after the decree is published, the government said.
Central Asia's largest oil producer introduced the levy in May and has said it would be reviewed quarterly. Kazakhstan plans to produce up to 70 million tonnes of crude this year.
Large foreign companies working in Kazakhstan under production sharing agreements are exempt from the duty. (Writing by Olzhas Auyezov, Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
