Soccer - Real Madrid's Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago will be out for four weeks after tearing a thigh muscle in Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League win over BATE Borisov, the Spanish champions said on their website (www.realmadrid.com).

Gago will miss Real's next Champions League match at Zenit St Petersburg on Sept. 30 and is a doubt for Argentina's World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Chile next month.

Hockey - Former Pakistani Olympic and international players have called for the resignation of the national hockey federation president, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, after the country's worst Olympic performance.

"We all feel that is time for Jamali to go and allow the federation to make a new beginning after the Beijing Olympics debacle," former captain and Olympic gold medallist Hasan Sardar told a news conference in Karachi attended by 15 ex-team members.

Pakistan, four times world champions and three times Olympic champions, finished eighth in Beijing last month.

Rallying - Italian motorcyclist Valentino Rossi will take part in December's Rally Great Britain, the five-times premium class world champion's father Graziano told Autosport magazine (www.autosport.com).

It will be the third time that Rossi, who leads the MotoGP standings by 87 points with four races to go, has competed in a world championship rally after he participated in Rally GB in 2002 and in Rally New Zealand in 2006.

Soccer - Italy midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has extended his contract with Juventus by a year until June 2011, the Serie A club said on their website (www.juventus.com).
