(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 4:30 p.m. British time on Thursday.

BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed by "indirect fire" -- a phrase referring to mortar or rocket attacks -- in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb near a popular restaurant killed four people and wounded 25 in the Shi'ite district of Shula in northwestern Baghdad, police said.

MUQDADIYA - A suicide car bomb targeting a U.S. military patrol killed three people and wounded 14 in the town Muqdadiya, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said.
