Police shoot man in London
LONDON |
LONDON (Reuters) - Police have shot a man during a planned operation in north London, Scotland Yard said on Thursday.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the shoulder after police stopped two cars shortly after midnight on Green Lanes at the junction with the North Circular Road in Enfield.
The man was in one of the cars and was taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Five other men were arrested for conspiracy to rob and are being held at separate police stations.
The intelligence-led operation was conducted by Scotland Yard's CO19 specialist firearms unit and its Trident team, which investigates gun crime among London's black community.
