(Reuters) - Following are five key facts about "Departures," the Japanese movie that on Sunday won an Oscar for best foreign language film.

-- Directed by Yojiro Takita and starring Masahiro Motoki.

-- Won the top prize at the Montreal World Film Festival last year.

-- Scheduled for limited U.S. release in May.

-- Takita directed about 20 adult-oriented films early in his career in the 1980s, before moving on to mainstream movie work.

-- Japan's last movie nominated for a foreign language film Oscar was "The Twilight Samurai" in 2004, which failed to win.
