Anglo keeps up relations with Xstrata on JVs

LONDON (Reuters) - Miner Anglo American (AAL.L) has kept up contact with rival Xstrata (XTA.L) on their joint ventures despite strongly rejecting Xstrata's merger approach, Chief Executive Cynthia Carroll said on Friday.

"In terms of our continuing engagement and discussions and meeting up with our peer group at Xstrata, we do that all the time," she told a results presentation. "We continue to engage and have discussions about work on ground."

She confirmed there were no discussions about Xstrata's "merger of equals" approach, which Anglo rebuffed on June 22.
