CALGARY, Alberta Aug 21 (Reuters) - Irving Oil Ltd on Friday said it is doing some work on its 300,000 barrel per day refinery at Saint John, New Brunswick in advance of a major maintenance turnaround still scheduled to begin in September.

Lesley MacLeod, a spokeswoman for the private company, said the work is being done to prepare for the turnaround but declined to specify if output was reduced. She said the work was planned and Irving is meeting all its customers' needs. (Reporting by Scott Haggett; editing by Janet Guttsman)
