LONDON, Sept 10 (Reuters) - ETF Securities said on Thursday the amount of metal it holds to back its London-based Physical Palladium exchange-traded commodity (PHPD.L) rose 5.5 percent on Sept. 9 to a record 477,766 ounces.
The company said it saw a 25,090-ounce inflow into the fund on Wednesday, as well as inflows into its gold- and silver-backed ETCs.
Holdings of its three gold products -- Gold Bullion Securities (GBSx.L), ETFS Physical Gold (PHAU.L) and a small Australian fund -- rose 0.6 percent to 8.114 million ounces.
Meanwhile its London-based silver fund (PHAG.L) recorded an inflow of nearly 100,000 ounces, which brought its total holdings to 20.186 million ounces. Its platinum holdings (PHPT.L) dipped, however, by 4,294 ounces to 321,362 ounces.
ETCs issue securities backed by physical stocks of a given commodity. Buying of precious metals to back ETCs and similar products has formed a major plank of demand in recent years.
