Cricket-India's Sehwag misses out on third triple century
MUMBAI |
MUMBAI Dec 4 (Reuters) - India's Virender Sehwag fell seven runs short of a record breaking third test triple century in the final match of the series against Sri Lanka on Friday.
Sehwag resumed on his overnight score of 284 but was caught and bowled by master spinner Muttiah Muralitharan for 293 in the fourth over of the third morning, silencing a packed Brabourne Stadium.
The opener is India's only triple centurion and is the third batsman to have achieved the feat twice, along with Australia's Don Bradman and West Indian Brian Lara.
India were 458 for two in reply to Sri Lanka's first-innings 393 when Sehwag was dismissed.
