MEXICO CITY Dec 9 (Reuters) - Mexican Deputy Finance Ministry Alejandro Werner said on Wednesday he would stay in his post despite a switch in the top job at the ministry.

"I will remain here," Werner told Reuters by email when asked whether he would leave following the nomination earlier on Wednesday of former Finance Minister Agustin Carstens as Mexico's next central bank chief.

Werner is respected by economists, some of whom said his departure could have raised concerns about future Mexican economic policy among investors.
