LONDON, Jan 8 (Reuters) - The Crown Estate, in charge of Britain's coastal seabed, on
Friday announced winners for the Round 3 tender for some of the world's biggest offshore wind
projects, which together could add at least 25 gigawatts (GW) of power generation capacity by
2020.
"This new round of licences provides a substantial new platform for investing in UK
industrial capacity," British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in a statement.
"The offshore wind industry is at the heart of the UK economy's shift to low carbon and
could be worth 75 billion pounds ($119.6 billion) and support up to 70,000 jobs by 2020."
Below is a list of Round 3 wind farm projects winders as Britain tries to source a third
of its power from renewable sources in its fight to cut its carbon emissions. The awards come
in addition to rounds one and two, which should deliver around 8 GW.
