BHP approves $240 mln for Canadian potash project

SYDNEY Jan 20 (Reuters) - BHP Billiton (BHP.AX)(BLT.L) said on Wednesday it has approved $240 million to fund the development of the first stages of its Jansen Potash Project in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The project is being designed to yield around 8 million tonnes of agricultural- grade potash per year, the company said. (Reporting by James Regan)
