Soccer-Coach Boloni quits Belgian champions Standard Liege
BRUSSELS |
BRUSSELS Feb 10 (Reuters) - Standard Liege coach Laszlo Boloni has resigned after a series of disappointing results, the club said on its website (www.standard.be) on Wednesday.
Liege, champions in the past two seasons, are languishing in sixth place in the first division, 19 points below leaders Anderlecht. They lost 1-0 at Racing Genk on Sunday.
The 56-year-old Boloni, a former Romanian international, has been coach at Standard since July 2008.
Liege went out of this season's Champions League at the group stage but qualified for the Europa League in which they host Salzburg in a first-leg round of 32 match on Feb. 18.
