Senate GOP leader says "no" to bank reform bill

WASHINGTON | Tue Apr 13, 2010 3:29pm BST

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate's Republican leader on Tuesday spoke strongly against a Democratic financial regulation reform bill that will soon be introduced in the full Senate for formal debate and a vote.

"We must not pass the financial reform bill that's about to hit the floor. The fact is, this bill wouldn't solve the problems that led to the financial crisis. It would make them worse," said Senator Mitch McConnell in floor remarks.

Is that it? No reason why? Hmph. I wonder if the Tea Partiers are going to be able to figure this one out.

In fact, this may be a true “test” of what the Tea Party really stands for. If they are just anti-Obama, they won’t care even if it is clear the Dems are trying to protect people from the greedy bankers who caused so many to lose their homes and their jobs.

We’ll see.

Foolish to think that anyone in Washington – repub or dem is watching out for the citizens. It is all about who is pumping money into their accounts. Tea Party is about the citizens trying to find someone who isn’t trying to posture and balancing the country’s check book – like we all have to do. Politico’s, insiders, and academics – doesn’t matter their politics – need to simply back off the spending, cut the waste, find the fraud – where ever it is. I would rather see reforms than nothing – but I don’t want to see rewarding insiders either like the bailouts… government has gotten too lucrative for the rats in Washington, just little pieces of the cheese fills can fill their bellies….time to push them into the harbor – all of them. Vote…

This is just continued obstructionist politics on the part of Republicans who would rather sacrifice their fellow Americans than support needed reform submitted by Democrats. It’s insane and harmful to the country.
