Shares in Bovis (BVS.L) gain 2.2 percent as the British housebuilder says it sold houses at prices slightly ahead of its expectations so far this year and the rate of weekly reservations was higher than the average rate in 2009.

"Galvan Research still views Bovis as the pick of the housebuilders after the quiet bullishness expressed in the statement today," says Galvan Research analyst Ed Woolfitt, who has a "buy" rating on the stock.

The broker adds Bovis has a strong cash position which it will use to continue land acquisitions and support future growth.
