"Dark" remake haunting theatres in January

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," a horror movie produced by Guillermo del Toro, will be released under Disney's Miramax banner on January 21, 2011, the studio said Monday.

The remake of a 1983 TV movie centres on a young girl (Bailee Madison) who is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.

Del Toro produced "Dark" with Mark Johnson, and co-wrote the script. Troy Nixey directed.
