LONDON (Reuters) - Richard Desmond, owner of the Daily Express newspaper and OK! magazine, is putting the finishing touches to a 100 million pound ($153 million) deal to buy British TV channel Five, the Sunday Times reported.

The newspaper, without citing sources, said Desmond had beaten rival interested parties including Time Warner (TWX.N), Channel 4 and Endemol.

RTL Group AUDK.LU, the pan-European broadcaster which owns Five, declined to comment.

Desmond could not immediately be reached.
