US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St opens up on Apple, bank earns

NEW YORK, July 21 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday as solid earnings from technology giant Apple (AAPL.O) as well as financials Morgan Stanley (MS.N) and Wells Fargo (WFC.N) tempered growth worries.

* Banks led the way up on the S&P 500, with the financial sector .GSPF gaining more than 1 percent. Apple was the biggest boost on the Nasdaq, jumping 4.5 percent.

* The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI added 24.68 points, or 0.24 percent, to 10,254.64. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX gained 4.49 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,087.97.
