US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St loses ground after consumer data

NEW YORK, July 27 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks lost ground on Tuesday, giving up short-lived gains after data showed consumer confidence fell in July to the lowest level since February on worries about the job market.

* The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI dipped 3.86 points, or 0.04 percent, to 10,521.57. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was off 0.88 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,114.13.
