NEW YORK Aug 17 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Tuesday:

POTASH CORP OF SASKATCHEWAN (POT.TO)(POT.N) $144.35, up 28.7 pct (U.S. traded stock)

INTREPID POTASH (IPI.N), $26.72, up 11.5 pct

CF INDUSTRIES (CF.N), $90.08, up 6.5 pct

Potash Corp said its board rejected BHP Billiton's (BHP.AX)(BLT.L) unsolicited $130 per share cash offer, terming it as "grossly inadequate," and adopted a shareholder rights plan. For details see [ID:nSGE67G0DT].

Potash peers' stocks were active on the news as the rejection fueled takeover speculation in the sector.

URBAN OUTFITTERS INC (URBN.O), $32.85, up 4.8 pct

The clothing retailer posted on MOnday a bigger-than-expected quarterly profit as sales rose across its brands. For details see [ID:nSGE67F0G9].

PACTIV CORP PTV.N, $34.25, up 10.8 pct

The maker of Hefty trash bags is in advanced talks to be bought by New Zealand's Rank Group Ltd, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday that cited two people with knowledge of the matter.

ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CO (ANF.N), $36.05, down 4.2 pct

The retailer posted a quarterly profit well ahead of estimates and said it plans to shut about 60 domestic stores over the fiscal year, and open 20 international mall-based Hollister stores -- down from the prior estimate of about 25 stores. For details see [ID:nSGE67G0D8].

AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC (A.N), $28.69, up 5.6 pct

M&T BANK CORP (MTB.N), $90.40, up 5.8 pct
