LONDON, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Shares in Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWP.L) soared as much as 12.9 percent on Wednesday, with traders citing market talk of bid interest from U.S. rival AT&T (T.N).

Cable & Wireless Worldwide was not immediately available for comment.

More than 12.6 million Cable & Wireless Worldwide shares changed hands by 0951 GMT, compared with its 30-day daily average of 12.3 million shares. (Reporting by Dominic Lau, Atul Prakash, Simon Falush and Paul Sandle)
