JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Suspected Palestinian gunmen wounded two Israelis in an attack on their car in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, an Israeli police spokesman said.

The shooting, near the Jewish settlement of Kochav Hashachar, followed the killing by Palestinian Hamas militants of four settlers in a similar road ambush on Tuesday, the eve of a Middle East peace summit in Washington.

Hamas, which opposes the new negotiations and had vowed to carry out more violence, did not immediately comment on Wednesday's attack.

The victims of the latest shooting were a man and a woman, both civilians, the police spokesman said. One was moderately wounded and the other lightly wounded.
