LONDON (Reuters) - England and Tottenham Hotspur centre forward Jermain Defoe must wait until next month to find out his punishment for driving while using a mobile phone, the Press Association reported on Friday.

Defoe, who scored a hat-trick in England's Euro 2012 championship qualifier against Bulgaria earlier this month, has already admitted using the phone while driving his Range Rover in October last year.

The 27-year-old Spurs striker was due to be sentenced on Friday but the hearing was adjourned until October 15.

Defoe is facing three months on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury during England's 3-1 Euro 2012 qualifying win over Switzerland this month.
