UPDATE 1-HealthSpring Q3 profit beats, ups FY profit view

Oct 28 (Reuters) - Managed care company HealthSpring Inc HS.N posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit, helped by higher premiums as membership numbers rose, and raised its full-year profit forecast.
In the July-September quarter, the company earned $53.8 million, or 95 cents a share, compared with $42.3 million, or 77 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.
Total revenue for the quarter was up about 10 percent to $725.2 million.
Analysts on average were expecting the company to earn 83 cents a share, on revenue of $735.1 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
For the full-year, the company now sees earnings of $3.20-$3.30 a share, up from its prior forecast of $3.15-$3.25 a share.
The company said its full-year outlook included an 11 cent a share impact from its acquisition of medicare operator Bravo Health. HealthSpring bought the privately held operator of Medicare plans for $545 million in August.
HealthSpring said it continues to see full-year revenue of $2.95-$3.00 billion.
The company's shares, which have gained about 29 percent in value since the Bravo acquisition, closed at $26.54 Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Krishnakali Sengupta in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
