BERLIN Nov 25 (Reuters) - There is zero danger of the euro zone breaking up, the head of the currency's bloc financial safety net said in a Thursday newspaper interview, adding that the situation in the euro area was nonetheless serious.

"There is zero danger," Klaus Regling, chief of the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), told German daily Bild when asked if the euro zone could break up.

"Of course the situation is serious," he added, when asked about comments by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has said the euro is in an "exceptionally serious" situation. (Reporting by Paul Carrel; editing by Noah Barkin)
