WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil imports in November fell to the lowest level for the month in 11 years, even though oil shipments from Saudi Arabia were up 32 percent, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Friday.
November crude imports declined 1.5 percent to 8.608 million bpd from 8.740 million bpd a year earlier, based on information provided to EIA from importing energy companies.
It was the lowest November volume for U.S. oil imports since 1999.
Canada was again America's biggest oil supplier for November, though exports were down 2.1 percent from a year ago to 1.975 million bpd, the lowest for the month in three years.
Mexico stayed in second place, with oil shipments of 1.229 million bpd, up 29 percent from a year earlier.
Saudi Arabia's oil exports of 1.119 million bpd put the kingdom in third place for November. U.S. purchases of Saudi oil were up 32 percent from a year ago and the fourth highest monthly volume so far during 2010.
The big jump in Saudi oil shipments occurred as the International Energy Agency said the kingdom's quietly increased its oil output increased at the end of last year.
Oil shipments from fourth-ranked Venezuela averaged 884,000 bpd, up 11.5 percent during the month.
The following is EIA data on shipments from major U.S. oil suppliers:
