Champions League final video verdict
(Reuters) - Review of key decisions at Wednesday's Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea, as assessed with the benefit of video replays.
21st minute - Claude Makelele (Chelsea) and Paul Scholes (United) clash heads as they jump for a loose ball in midfield. Video replays show Scholes follows through with his elbow and connects with the back of Makelele's head though the contact is not heavy.
Angry Chelsea players surround Scholes and a potential incident is defused by swift action from Slovakian referee Lubos Michel, who gives both players yellow cards. Ironically, it is Scholes who is injured and who goes off the field for treatment for a bloody nose.
Video verdict: referee correct on Scholes. Less clear why Makelele was booked.

41st - Ashley Cole (Chelsea) breaks down the left and goes down in the area after a challenge from Wes Brown. Michel allows play to go on.
Video verdict: no penalty. Though Brown's challenge may have been questionable, he made contact with Cole outside the box. Cole may have had a reasonable case for a free kick outside the area.
