IRVING, Texas, April 27 (Reuters) - Australian Adam Scott struggled on the front nine on Sunday at the Byron Nelson championship but managed to hang on to a share of the final round lead with American Ryan Moore.

The world number 10 began the final round with a three-shot lead over a trio of Americans, including Moore, but got off to a slow start with a bogey on the first hole and finished with a one-over 37, seven under par.

Moore, still seeking his first PGA tour win, began the day in second place three back, but carded birdies on holes six to eight on his way to a 34 on the front nine in cold, windy conditions.

Spain's Sergio Garcia was five-over par after six holes but quickly fell off the leader board.

Scott's first swing of the day was a nasty hook into the left rough which led to a bogey on the par-four first hole. After coming up short on the second hole, he was able to scramble for a par.

A tee ball in the water on the par-three fifth hole led to a double bogey before he came back with a birdie on the par-five seventh. (Editing by John Mehaffey)
