CAPE TOWN, May 10 (Reuters) - Fullback Lote Tuqiri scored a late try converted by flyhalf Kurtley Beale to give the NSW Waratahs a 13-13 draw with the Stormers in their Super 14 match in Cape Town on Saturday.

The result keeps both teams alive in the fight for a semi-final berth. The Stormers, whose five-game winning streak came to an end, are fourth with 37 points, two points behind the Waratahs in third place.

Gusting winds and sheets of rain buffeted Newlands Stadium and both teams chose to compete for territory rather than possession in the slippery conditions.

The visiting Australians opened the scoring when Beale chipped a 25-metre penalty over in the first minute after the Stormers strayed offside.

The home team replied with the only try of the first half in the eighth minute when they capitalised on an unclaimed grubber in the Waratahs' 22.

The ball was spun wide to Stormers captain Jean de Villiers and he used the overlap to send winger Sireli Naqelevuki sliding over from five metres. Flyhalf Peter Grant failed to convert.

Another successful penalty from Beale 20 minutes later put the Waratahs back in front with the one-point lead they held at halftime.

The Stormers made a strong start to the second half when winger Wylie Human charged down Waratahs winger Lachlan Turner's attempted clearance from inside his 22 and recovered the ball to score. Grant's conversion attempt was again wide of the posts.

Stormers' replacement flyhalf Tony Brown slotted a 25-metre penalty at the start of the fourth quarter to give the South African team a seven-point lead.  Continued...
