Rugby-No alcohol crackdown on All Blacks, says Henry

WELLINGTON, July 4 (Reuters) - All Blacks management will not impose any further restrictions on their players despite two being charged over alcohol-related incidents in the last week, coach Graham Henry said on Friday.
Replacement scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan was censured by the New Zealand Rugby Union and fined NZ$3000 after he was charged for the third time for disorderly behaviour, while number eight Jerome Kaino was charged with drink driving.
Cowan has been told he must abstain from alcohol while under contract with the NZRU, but Henry said the players were not under any increased restrictions following the incidents.
The squad went out for dinner on Thursday as part of their normal ritual before the test against South Africa and Henry said some of the players "probably had a glass of wine" with their meal.
"We take that area of the game particularly seriously," Henry told reporters of his management team's attitude towards players' off-field behaviour.
"But it's not about policing young people to do the right thing. It's about them making the right decisions and I think once we become a police-orientated rugby team it's the time to give it away, quite frankly.
"I wouldn't want to be involved in that."
Henry said the onus for behaving responsibly was on the players. Continued...
