Briefs 4-Clemente to stay on as Murcia coach
May 16 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world.
Soccer - Real Murcia have confirmed that Javier Clemente will continue to coach the team in the second division, despite their relegation from the Primera Liga.
"Javier Clemente is the ideal coach to bring us back up. Our sole objective for next year is to return to the top flight. We have done it twice before and are going to do it again," Murcia president Jesus Samper told a news conference.
The former Spain coach took charge in early March when they were second from bottom in the Primera Liga, six points from safety. They remain in the same position in the table, but are now 12 points behind Real Zaragoza and 13 adrift of Osasuna, who are just above the drop zone.
Soccer - The Football Association have asked Chelsea manager Avram Grant to explain remarks he made about Premier League referees on Wednesday.
Grant criticised Steve Bennett's refereeing of United's 2-0 final day victory at Wigan Athletic that clinched the title for the Reds. He has until 28 May to reply to the FA's letter.
