Soccer-Troglio leaves Independiente, Llop fired by Banfield

BUENOS AIRES, March 24 (Reuters) - Argentina's coaching merry-go-round claimed two more victims on Monday when Pedro Troglio parted company with Independiente and Juan Manuel Llop was fired by Banfield.

Their departures brought the number of coaching changes in the last week to four among the 20 first division clubs.

Troglio, who played in Argentina's 1990 World Cup team, parted company with the Red Devils two days after a 2-0 defeat by San Martin which left them seventh in the Clausura championship.

"The decision was made by mutual agreement," said Independiente in a statement. Troglio had been in charge since July.

General manager Miguel Angel Santoro, who stepped in last year when Jorge Burruchaga quit, was named as Troglio's immediate replacement.

Llop was dismissed because Banfield said he had not reached expectations even though his side won 5-0 at defending champions Lanus only two weeks ago.

"After Monday's training, the technical staff, headed by Llop, met with the club directors, who informed them of the decision because they had not reached expectations," said Banfield in a statement.

Banfield, who lost 2-1 at Rosario Central on Saturday, are 14th with seven points from as many games.

Llop led the unfashionable club to a third-place finish in the Apertura championship last year.  Continued...
