Soccer-Nijmegen sink Groningen to stay on course for Uefa Cup
AMSTERDAM, May 11 (Reuters) - NEC Nijmegen cruised to a 3-1 away victory over Groningen in a Dutch play-off second leg on Sunday to advance to the final 4-1 on aggregate and edge closer to a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
Brett Holman gave NEC a flying start when he opened the scoring in the fifth minute after a fine one-two with Dani Hernandez, while on the stroke of halftime Krisztian Vadocz doubled the lead with a deflected shot.
Marcus Berg pulled one back for Groningen on the hour with a close-range header but 18 minutes before time Lorenzo Davis sealed the victory.
NEC will face either Heerenveen or NAC Breda in the final. Heerenveen won the first leg 2-0 on Thursday and will travel Breda on Monday.
