Soccer-Roda oust Heracles on penalties to reach Dutch Cup final
AMSTERDAM, Mar 19 (Reuters) - Roda JC Kerkrade reached their first Dutch Cup final for seven years after beating Heracles Almelo 5-3 on penalties on Wednesday.
The match was level at 2-2 after extra time, but two-times winner Roda prevailed and booked their place against Feyenoord, 2-0 winners over NAC Breda on Tuesday, in the final in Rotterdam on April 27.
Spaniard Gonzalo Garcia-Garcia opened the scoring for the home side after 17 minutes when he rounded three defenders before he chipped the ball over Roda goalkeeper Bram Castro.
But directly from the kick-off Roda replied as Marcel Meeuwis appeared unmarked at the edge of the penalty area and netted the equaliser at the near post with a well-placed shot.
Willem Janssen struck after 55 minutes to put Roda ahead but 10 minutes before time substitute Ricky van den Bergh curled a free kick around the wall to pull the match into extra time. (Editing by Miles Evans)
