ROME, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Brief reports from Serie A matches played on Sunday:

GENOA 2 CATANIA 1

Brazilian midfielder Danilo fired home from a tight angle and Marco Borriello converted a penalty to give Genoa a win over the Sicilians, who scored with a Cesare Bovo own goal.

INTER MILAN 1 EMPOLI 0

Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a spot kick conceded for handball by Ighli Vannucchi in the 34th minute, although television replays suggested the ball had hit the midfielder's face.

France midfielder Patrick Vieira was sent off five minutes later for protesting about a yellow card he had just been given.

Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar dived superbly to save a late Luca Saudati penalty after Marco Materazzi had caught the Empoli striker in the area.  Continued...
