PARIS, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Newcomer Elliot Grandin scored a goal and set up another to help Olympique Marseille beat Monaco 3-1 on Sunday and advance to the French Cup's last 16.

Striker Grandin, 20, who has just joined from Caen, fed midfieldfer Mathieu Valbuena for Marseille's first goal on seven minutes before doubling the advantage himself with an acrobatic volley three minutes later.

France striker Djibril Cisse added a third from close range 17 minutes into the second half for Marseille, who have lifted the Cup a record 10 times and lost the last two finals. Teenaged midfielder Djamel Bakar reduced the arrears for Monaco in the 70th.

Marseille go on to meet fifth division Carquefou, amateurs from a small western town near Nantes who stunned Ligue 1 frontrunners Nancy with a 2-1 extra-time victory earlier on Sunday.

Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyon, chasing their first league and Cup double, needed a free kick from Brazilian striker Fred 10 minutes from time to earn a 1-0 win against fourth division Croix-de-Savoie.

The six-times French champions will next meet Cup holders Sochaux, who advanced on Saturday by knocking out second division Montpellier on penalties. (Writing by Patrick Vignal, Editing by Justin Palmer and Clare Lovell)
