Torres to miss Spain's Euro 2008 qualifiers
MADRID (Reuters) - Striker Fernando Torres will miss Spain's Euro 2008 Group F qualifiers away to Latvia on Saturday and Liechtenstein next week after straining his ankle in training on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury after a challenge from Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos and team doctor Genaro Borras said the striker could be out of action for up to three weeks.
The injury means the Atletico Madrid striker is also likely to miss his club's final two league games of the season as they bid for a place in Europe.
Espanyol striker Luis Garcia is expected to replace Torres in the Spain squad.
Spain are third in Group F with nine points from five games, three points behind Sweden and four adrift of leaders Northern Ireland who have played a game more.
