ABC has a winner with "Wipeout"
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ABC's wacky obstacle course series "Wipeout" marked the network's strongest postseason debut since 2005's "Brat Camp," according to Nielsen Media data issued Wednesday.
The show pulled in 10 million viewers Tuesday, second only to NBC's two-hour "America's Got Talent" (11.5 million). But it led the field in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, and the key male demos.
ABC's other reality debut, "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" (8 million), also performed well, beating Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" (7.7 million) at 9 p.m.
"Wipeout" added viewers during its hour, while "Japanese Game Show" lost them, suggesting that game show contestants falling off giant bouncy balls might have primetime legs.
Overall, NBC won in viewership with 10.6 million, followed by ABC (8.2 million), CBS (7.3 million) and Fox (5.5 million).
