WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Capital World Investors on Monday disclosed in a regulatory filing that it owns a 6.1 percent passive stake in Countrywide Financial Corp CFC.N.

The investment fund reported in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it owns about 35.8 million shares of the largest U.S. mortgage lender.

The fund did not provide additional details such as when it amassed the stake or the reason behind the acquisition.
