Toyota says will have to cut 2008 U.S. outlook
DETROIT (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Co (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Tuesday that industry-wide U.S. auto sales in 2008 would fall short of its initial forecast for sales of 16 million units in light of the weak results for the first quarter.
Speaking to reporters and analysts on a conference call, executives at Toyota's U.S. sales unit said the automaker would have to lower its forecast, probably to the mid-15-million unit range. "Clearly, the market is not on the same page. We're currently reevaluating (our forecast)," Toyota division sales chief Bob Carter said.
