NEW YORK (Reuters) - Diversified manufacturer Eaton Corp (ETN.N: Quote, Profile, Research), which made nine acquisitions last year and closed two others in recent months, will focus on integrating the new businesses this year, Chief Executive Alexander "Sandy" Cutler said on Monday.
The company will see less mergers and acquisitions activity this year, Cutler told Reuters in an interview.
"We've got a pretty full plate," he said. "We have a busy year of integration here in 2008."
Eaton this month closed the acquisition of German-based Moeller Group, which makes power distribution and control equipment. Earlier this year, it completed the purchase of Taiwan-based Phoenixtec, which makes uninterruptible power supply systems.
Most of Eaton's acquisition spending goes to expanding its fast-growing electrical, hydraulic and aerospace segments, rather than its truck or automotive operations, Cutler said. Continued...
