Weyerhaeuser looks to sell OPC technology unit
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Timberland owner and forest products company Weyerhaeuser Co (WY.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it is exploring the sale of its oriented polymer composites technology unit.
The OPC business, located in Kent, Washington, is focused on creating wood-plastic composites for exterior building products.
Weyerhaeuser, in a bid to focus on its core timberlands business, has been divesting a number of its assets. Earlier this month Weyerhaeuser agreed to sell its containerboard business to International Paper (IP.N: Quote, Profile, Research) for $6 billion.
