Warburg writes down $215 mln on MBIA stake-NY Post
July 8 (Reuters) - Private equity firm Warburg Pincus [WP.UL] took a $215 million writedown on its stake in MBIA Inc (MBI.N: Quote, Profile, Research) in the quarter ended March 31, the New York Post said citing a recent quarterly performance report.
The buyout firm invested $1 billion in MBIA in December to help ward off the insurer's liquidity concerns.
When Warburg announced the investment in December, MBIA's shares were trading at $30.
MBIA's shares have since fallen sharply and closed at $3.91 Monday on the New York Stock Exchange
Warburg Pincus and MBIA could not be immediately reached for comment.
