CHINA TIMES

-- Foreign Minister Francisco Ou urged Japan to apologise for Tokyo's handling of a ship collision near a group of disputed islands after Japanese authorities expressed regret and agreed to compensate.

-- Twelve Taiwanese set out for a group of disputed islands known as Tiaoyutai in Taiwan and the Senkaku isles in Japan, to protest against Japan after the boat collision.

UNITED DAILY NEWS

-- The foreign ministry representative in Japan offered to resign after he was recalled over the weekend due to the boat incident.

LIBERTY TIMES

-- The Finance Ministry said it will either take loans or issue bonds to fund projects aimed at boosting domestic consumption after legislators opposed a planned sale in Chunghwa Telecom (2412.TW: Quote, Profile, Research) shares.
