Briefs-Bulgaria's Belasitsa contest result in survival bid
May 14 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:
Soccer - Belasitsa Petrich have asked the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) to annul Saturday's 1-1 draw at Marek Dupnitsa because the home side fielded two ineligible players.
Belasitsa, who were relegated following the draw, want BFU to award them a 3-0 victory, which will revive their chances of keeping their place in the top division with one match remaining.
"The appeal is more than justified," the Petrich-based club side president Kostadin Hadzhiivanov told reporters. "We have a claim on two ineligible Marek players and we believe that justice will win."
Cricket - The Pakistan Cricket Board have blocked former test players Shabbir Ahmed and Rana Naved from playing against a visiting Hong Kong team because of their affiliation with the rebel Indian Cricket League.
The duo were scheduled to play for a side representing the government's infrastructure arm (WAPDA) on Wednesday with paceman Shabbir appointed as captain.
However, the PCB informed WAPDA that the players were ineligible because they had taken part in the ICL Twenty20 tournament which was not recognised by the board.
Soccer - Getafe coach Michael Laudrup will be moving on at the end of the season, his agent Bayram Tutumlu was quoted as telling Globo FM by the Spanish media.
"I told president Angel Torres to look for a new coach a month ago," he said. Continued...
