Jack Johnson surfs to top of album charts
LONDON (Reuters) - Hawaii-born singer/songwriter Jack Johnson cruised to the top of the British album charts as Basshunter's Euro dance track "Now You're Gone" was the number one single for a fifth successive week.
The chilled vibe of Johnson's fifth album "Sleep Through the Static" pushed 19-year-old jazz and soul singer Adele's long-player "19" down to two, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.
With Canadian rockers Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons" a non-mover at three, there were two other new albums in the top 10 with British electropop band Hot Chip's "Made in the Dark" in at four and Mary J Blige's "Growing Pains" coming in at six.
Nickelback made their presence felt in the singles chart as the post-grunge band climbed one to two with "Rockstar" as Swedish DJ Jones Altberg held on to the number one spot for a fifth week running.
Adele's single "Chasing Pavements" slipped one to three, while eighties band Wet Wet Wet's "Weightless" was the only new entry in the top 10 of the singles chart, coming in at 10.
