Soccer-Liverpool co-owner Hicks says 'arrogant' Parry should go
LONDON, April 12 (Reuters) - Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has accused the Premier League club's chief executive Rick Parry of arrogance and repeated his calls for him to leave Anfield.
"Rick Parry has been Liverpool's CEO for 10 years and we haven't won a league championship under his leadership," Hicks told the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
"After watching him operate, I came to the conclusion it was time to ask him to resign, due to his inability to manage an organisation, his seemingly arrogant attitude to our supporters and his lack of communication with (manager) Rafa (Benitez)."
Hicks was reported by British media on Friday to have sent Parry a letter calling on him to quit his post but George Gillett, the second American co-owner of the Merseyside club, leapt to Parry's defence.
Gillett added it would require approval from the full Liverpool board before Parry could be removed.
But Hicks said it was vital the club had a new financial management structure before next season.
NEW CEO
"It is important to try and have a new CEO in place by May so we can begin working with Rafa on player transfers," Hicks said. Continued...
